Kid-led rally and march demands Nakba education in B.C. curriculum

What:
Education for Liberation: Kids’-Led Rally for Nakba Education — a student-led rally and march calling on the B.C. Ministry of Education to include the Nakba, the mass displacement of Palestinians from 1947–1949, in the provincial curriculum.

Who:
Organized by Parents for Palestine Vancouver, with students, teachers, and families from across B.C. Speakers include Palestinian and Jewish students, teachers and parents.

Why:
As violence in Gaza dominates headlines, B.C. students are asking critical questions — but classrooms lack the historical context needed to answer. Students, educators and families are calling on the Ministry of Education to equip teachers with the tools to teach the history of Palestine — starting with the Nakba. This event is part of a growing campaign with over 7,000 petition signatures calling for curriculum reform.

Date: Saturday, May 10, 2025

Meeting point: Grandview Park (1657 Charles St, Vancouver)
